When someone dies there are a lot of practical things to be done, not all of which involve the church. Charities such as Age UK have leaflets, information and a website to help you. There are a number of local Funeral Directors. Guidance is available from the Church Office if this is not familiar territory for you.
If someone lived within the parish, or worshipped here, or had a long-standing connection with St Peter’s, a church funeral may well be appropriate. The clergy are also always prepared to officiate at funerals at crematoria or other locations.
