Banns are an announcement in church of your intention to marry and a chance for anyone to put forward a reason why the marriage may not lawfully take place.
If you live within the Parish of St Peter’s, but have chosen to get married at a church within another parish, you are required to have your Banns of Marriage read out at this Church (St Peter’s) and at the church in which you are due to be married during the three months before the marriage.
Once your Banns have been read out for three successive Sundays, we will issue you with a certificate to take to the church at which the marriage will take place.
To enquire about having your banns read at St Peter’s, please complete and submit our Banns Enquiry Form.
