Welcome to St Peter’s!
We are an Anglican (Church of England) church based in Shipley – in between the city of Bradford and the Yorkshire Dales – with a vision to see our town transformed by the power of God. We meet in several congregations and home groups across the town. You are welcome to join us at any of our congregations.
If you’re new to the church, we’d love to get to know you. Fill in a Welcome Card at any of our Sunday services, or complete the online form. On the Welcome Desk at the back of the church there are pink Welcome brochures which tell you more about what goes on here. We also hold occasional newcomers’ evenings to which we would like to invite you.
We’re glad that you are interested in St Peter’s and look forward to getting to know you better.
What to expect at St Peter’s
Going to a church for the first time can be intimidating, but we’ll make every effort to make sure that your first and following visits are happy and enjoyable.
Will I have to stand up and introduce myself?
No, you won’t be put on the spot, but there will be the chance to meet other worshippers and the church leaders before and after the services.
How should I dress?
We’re proud of our friendly and casual atmosphere. Don’t worry about what you’re wearing – there are no dress codes. Just dress the way you feel most comfortable, whether that’s in a pair of jeans or a suit and a tie.
Where do I park?
There’s a small car park at St Peter’s, but it can get busy at service times. If the car park is full, there’s plenty of space on the surrounding streets, but please make sure that you park with consideration for our neighbours.
Where’s the entrance?
There are a few ways to get into the church, but the main door is on Moorhead Lane, underneath the tower.
What about children?
Children are welcome at any of our services. The 9.30am service (every week except the third Sunday of the month) is a time of worship suitable for All Ages, with activities available for children in church during the service.
There are no separate activities for children at our other services, but our creative activity corner is always available to use and they are welcome to participate in the main service.
For small children who get particularly restless, we have a creche room at the front of the church, where toys are available and there is a speaker so that parents can continue to hear the service going on in the main church.
On the third Sunday of every month, we have a Messy Church session between 3.30 and 6pm in the church and the halls. This in includes space for games and refreshments, activity and craft time, a short worship celebration together with songs, stories and prayers and a meal. All welcome – any age!
We also have several groups for children and young people running through the week.
