Natasha’s Reflections

Christmas is coming!

I am beginning to feel that little bit of excitement, as we begin our count down towards Christmas morning, tinged with a little of anxiety as I go over my ‘To do’ lists and plans for the different services that will be taking place over the coming weeks as we look to rejoice together, pray together and tell others about the amazing news that Jesus came as a baby into the very mess and chaos of our earth.

It is a special time of year where we build up our anticipation remembering that we are not just looking forward to Jesus coming as a baby and all the joy that that brings. But also we think about our waiting for His return, when the prince of peace will reign over all the world. this feels particularly poigniant as we look at our world and particularly the middle east where war in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria continues to destroy lives and communities. I pray that as we count down our days and our sleeps, we find a new sense of peace and purpose in God and our waiting. That our understanding of what we are waiting for grows and our spirituality deepens. I pray that through the many parties and activities that are taking place in our buildings and our church that the light and love just shines through. That those driving past the church will be inspired by the fun nativity scene to want to try one of the services. That God’s holy Spirit will be working through them as invitations to finding a place of Hope. Amen
