Natasha’s Reflections

I am so looking forward to spending some time with you at our away day on Saturday 19th October at St John’s Baildon (9.30 – 4.15pm) The outline for which is below. I am praying that it will be a day:

  • Where we find God speaking to us
  • Where we build relationships with people we did not know so well
  • Where we feel inspired to shine God’s love in ways that only we can

What I love about church is that we are family, a family that will include people who are similar to us and a family that includes those who are very different. But that is what makes church amazing, in that it embraces all people from the ‘East and the West and North and South who will eat in the kingdom of God’ (Luke 13:29). We are those people who bring different gifts and skills and experiences that can be shared and offered, that makes St Peter’s the church we are.

One of the things that I have been challenged with this week in my daily reflections is to think about the things that break our hearts. These are often God placed feelings. A prompt for us to go into action. Perhaps during your prayer time ask God to show you how you can respond and do something that addresses that heart ache. Loving God and walking with Him as we learnt from the first two chapters of Hebrews is not a place where we can be complacent. We cannot leave the work to others to do, we too – each one of us has a responsibility to respond in thought, word and deed. What is God calling you to do? Sometimes, especially those of us who have been a Christian for a longer period of time we can drift away from the passion that initially started our journey as a Christian. Are you drifting? Ask God to help you know what might help you to re-establish your zeal, your energy, your commitment to Him.

A little tip… ‘Letter to the Hebrews’ (even though it isn’t really a letter!!!)

If you or your home group want to go a bit deeper into the book of Hebrews the Bible Project has produced an excellent set of 6 podcasts to listen to. The link is: https://bibleproject.com/podcast/series/hebrews-study/
