A message from Rev Natasha Thomas – St Peter’s Priest-in-Charge
Sunday 28 July
Dear Friends,
As you may know we started our prayer walking last Tuesday around the parish. I was so encouraged by the turn out, and we were able to spend an hour walking gently down the hill and pray for the different people, businesses, school, nursery and residential areas that we passed.
We reflected on a couple of passages from Acts 16:12-15 reflecting on how Paul encountered Lydia and the other woman outside of the temple, who were washing whilst he was trying to find somewhere to pray. This encounter brought many of these women to faith. So looking and praying we looked for places where others were gathering.
We also read Acts 10: 1-6, where Cornelius, a gentile who prayed regularly to God and whose behaviour was generous and kind to others, is honoured by God. He was someone who was looking for God. He represented everything that the Jews of the day would have considered unclean and unredeemable…not a likely person to be someone who would pioneer Christianity for the future…but God uses surprising people. So we prayed to identify those who are searching, that will help us build and grow God’s kingdom in Saltaire.
We shall continue to walk each week on Tuesday at 9am, and we will also be leading a Sunday evening prayer walk, so that those who are unable to join us on Tuesday have another opportunity.
Praying you all have a good week.
Blessings,
Natasha
