Farewell to John and Julie Rainer
The Revd John Rainer, vicar of St Peter’s, announced earlier this year that he would be retiring from St Peter’s and this Sunday will be time to say farewell and thank you to John and Julie as they mark their final weekend with us.
John has a few weeks of annual leave before he formally retires later this month and he and Julie will then move to their new home in the North West. This Sunday will be their final service with us and we will be taking the opportunity to give thanks to God for them and for all that their ministry has brought to our parish over the past 20 years.
There will be one joint All Age Holy Communion service at St Peter’s at 10.30am on Sunday. This will be followed by a bring and share lunch in the church halls, to which all are welcome, to give everyone opportunity to say their farewells to John and Julie.
We would love to see anyone who has known John and Julie during their time in Shipley and all are welcome to join us for the service and for lunch afterwards.
The service will be livestreamed for anyone who would like to join but is unable to be there in person. If you click on this link at 10.30am on Sunday morning it will take you to the service. It will also be available to view afterwards.
Please note there will be no evening service at St Peter’s this week.
Next week, our services will return to the usual pattern after the summer break and so there will be the usual 9.30am All Age, 11am Morning Service and 6.30pm Evening Worship – check back here on the website each week for more details.
