Our Carol Service will be very different this year, as live music which is usually such a big part of the service, is heavily restricted at the moment because of the increased risk of infection from singing indoors.
However, it is just as important as ever that, in the midst of all the preparation going on at this time of year, we have the opportunity to come aside and be quiet and reflective before the manger and welcome our Saviour in our own hearts.
Our carol service will provide a setting to help us all to do this, either live in church or at home for those who aren’t able to be there.
We will be using a selection of:
- recorded carols from St Martin in the Fields in London and one or two from our own Cathedral in Bradford, which have been made available to churches to use this year;
- one or two pieces specially recorded by our own musicians;
- familiar Bible readings telling the Christmas story and how it was prophesied centuries before,
- one or two testmonies telling the stories of some of our own folk from this year,
- a short talk from John.
The church will be decorated for the season, so come along if you can, or create your own space at home – and find some Christmas peace in the midst of the busyness of this time of year.
If you would like to attend in church, the service will be a mixture of recordsing to watch and listen to and ‘live’ readings, prayers and a talk. You can book to attend in person at this link here, or by phoning or emailing the office. Recorded versions of all the elements of the service will broadcast via our Youtube Channel in parrallel, also starting at 6.30pm on Sunday.
