Along with the nation, we are deeply saddened at the news of the death of HM the Queen on Thursday afternoon.
The Queen was Governor of the Church of England as well as our Monarch for 70 years and her very real faith was an inspiration to Christians across the country and the commonwealth.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the Royal Family in the days to come and especially with His Majesty King Charles III as he takes on the heavy responsibility of becoming our King, while mourning his much-loved mum.
For anyone who would like to pay their respects and take time to give thanks and reflect on the Queen’s life and her legacy, St Peter’s will be open today (Friday 9th) between 2pm and 4pm and between 6pm and 7pm. There will be an opportunity to light candles and sign a book of condolence.
Floral tributes can be left near the main church door.
You may also find the resources available here on the national Church of England website helpful.
God of love,
We thank you for the life of The Queen,
for her service to our nation,
and for her faith in you.
Be close to all of us who mourn,
that we may we find comfort and hope in your love,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
